Children's Ballet
At Gracefully Academy of Dance, our ballet classes follow a methodical curriculum and syllabus designed to support each individual dancer. We value dancer safety and consider the "whole picture" when placing dancers in a class that will help them to thrive and succeed.
Pre-Primary through Level 5 will be taught by ABT® Certified Teacher, Grace McCann, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
Pearl: Pre-Primary - A 45 minute class for young dancers (ages 4-6) who are ready to take their first steps in the ballet studio without a parent/guardian. Our pre-primary level expands upon what dancers in our First Steps (Dancing Together) may have experienced with their parent/guardian and allows them to explore the world of dance for themselves.
Note: Every child and their needs are unique. Some dancers may be ready for Pre-Primary at 4 years old, while other 4 year olds may benefit from another year dancing alongside their parent/guardian in First Steps (Dancing Together). Graceful Academy of Dance is here to support you and your dancer on their ballet journey, which includes finding the best class fit for your dancer.
Citrine: Primary A - A 45 minute class for young dancers (ages 5-8) that will help guide dancers to learn proper alignment and technique while using a variety of imaginative tools to keep dancing fun!
Opal: Primary B/C - A 60 minute class for young dancers (ages 7-9) ready for a longer duration of dancing. Our Opal class will help guide dancers to learn proper alignment or expand what they had learned in Primary A, following a natural and imaginative progression.
Emerald: Ballet 1 - A 90 minute ballet class for dancers (ages 9-12) who are ready to participate in a full ballet class including barre work. Dancers in this level may have progressed past Primary levels or alternatively could be beginning ballet for the first time and are ready to learn the foundations of classical ballet in a more structured approach. Dancers will learn Dance Theory, including terminology and an understanding of how one's anatomy develops their technique through placement, coordination, and alignment. Our Emerald Level is reflective of Level 1 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
