Abigail Jorgensen
Instructor
Abigail Jorgensen began her early developmental dance training in the accelerated program at Princeton Ballet School under the direction of Graham Lustig. At PBS, she performed featured roles in the children’s casts of Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Coppelia, and The Nutcracker, igniting in her a passion for sharing her art form on the stage.
Following this, Jorgensen went on to receive her formal ballet training under the careful direction of Princeton Dance & Theater co-founders Risa Kaplowitz and Susan Jaffe, and soon after joined Princeton Youth Ballet as a company member.
With PYB, Jorgensen performed numerous corps, soloist, and principal roles in both standard classical ballets and original works choreographed for the company. She was honored to have been selected as the debut cast and to work directly with the choreographer for many such works. Her repertoire with PYB includes Cinderella, The Secret Garden, The Snow Queen, Graduation Ball, The Nutcracker, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and others.
Jorgensen joined Pennsylvania Ballet (now “Philadelphia Ballet”) as a trainee under the direction of Angel Corella, and has since gone on to perform professionally with Pennsylvania Ballet, Albany Berkshire Ballet, The Bossov Ballet, and as a returning alumni guest artist with her home company Princeton Youth Ballet. Her professional repertoire includes George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, Walpurgisnacht, Square Dance, and Coppélia; Frederick Ashton's La Fille mal gardée; Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty, Paquita, and Le Réveil de Flore; and Vasily Vainonen’s Flames of Paris.
During her time as a student in PDT’s Conservatory Program, Jorgensen successfully passed multiple levels of the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum Examinations with Merit, and was subsequently honored to perform as a “demonstrator” of the ABTⓇ NTC for ABT Day.
Over the summers, she attended rigorous programs at American Ballet Theater NYC, Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, The Art of Classical Ballet, and The Royal Danish Ballet, among others.
Jorgensen’s teaching experience includes over 10 years of ballet instruction and rehearsal direction. She always strives to guide her students towards executing pure, unaffected classical ballet technique in a safe, healthy, and joyful environment.
Abigail Jorgensen is an ABT® Certified Teacher in Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum, and is a USA Gymnastics Safety Certified Instructor.
